Functionally (implicitly) defined 3D objects allow us to quite easily model parts with complex topology such as lattices and organic-like structures with a high level of flexibility. Previous works in this area are based on the direct generation of CNC programs for the 3D printing of these objects and are backed by the growing support for this input format from hardware manufacturers. Efficient contouring of functionally defined models, however, is not an easy task. In this paper, we develop an algorithm for contour extraction of implicitly defined objects for direct additive manufacturing (AM). By comparing various adaptive and exhaustive (non-adaptive) methods of the function representation contouring for AM (FRepCAM), we make a set of recommendations for its usage depending on the specific resolution of the printer. In particular, we use a novel criterion based on affine arithmetic to maintain efficiency while preserving the robustness of the contouring process. The techniques mentioned were evaluated for algebraic and non-algebraic solids and heterogeneous models under a resolution that is comparable with that of current AM technology. The results show that the chosen adaptation criteria allow us to efficiently obtain a contour for complex models and generally outperform those of traditional algorithms based on exhaustive enumeration, especially for high-resolution contouring. In addition, the results present proof of the printability of implicitly defined objects with different 3D printing techniques.

This paper aims at an in-depth analysis of grain structure and texture of 316 L austenitic stainless steel produced by the powder bed based additive manufacturing in three dimensions. The modeling framework adopted for this purpose combines the finite-difference heat solver with modified cellular automata describing the grain structure formation. The model is validated against the data on the experimental microstructure of 316 L steel produced by selective laser melting. The simulated specimen exhibits the major 011100 Goss texture and minor 001100 cube texture components, with the grains tending to orient along the build direction. The study explores the ways in which this specific additively manufactured microstructure can be formed, focusing on the epitaxial solidification taking place during additive manufacturing and preferred growth directions of the grains. Furthermore, the paper attempts to show that no nucleation ahead of the solidification front is necessary for forming fine grains in additively manufactured microstructures.

Abstract: Bulk copper?graphene composites are regarded as novel materials for the application for electronics. However, the properties of the composites and their microstructure are highly dependent on synthesis technique parameters as well as the graphene additive contents and its type: graphene flakes, graphene nanoparticles, reduced graphene oxide particles, etc. In the present work, powder metallurgy technique was modified to produce copper?graphene composites; the milling procedure was optimized basing on particle size distribution data. The optimal amount of graphene additive to copper powder was calculated via the simple mathematical model, where metal?graphene composite is regarded as a core?shell particle. That approach was used to produce copper?graphene composites with the graphene contents of 0.1, 0.5, and 1.0 wt%. In case of 3 wt% of carbon additive (thermally exfoliated graphite) copper-graphite?graphene composites were obtained. The microstructure of samples was studied by scanning electron microscopy and electron back-scattering diffraction. The identification of carbon allotropes was performed by Raman spectroscopy. It was shown that the graphene additive acts as a lubricant during powder metallurgy process: carbon allotrope flakes are not introduced into the material matrix but extruded to pores. As a result, a new synthesis approach for copper?graphene composites manufacturing with improved microstructure and mechanical properties was suggested. The skin is a combination of two different types of tissue - epithelial and connective (mesenchymal). The outer protective layer of the skin, the epidermis, consists of multiple layers of keratinocytes residing on the basement membrane that separates them from the underlying dermis, which consists of a well-vascularized fibrous extracellular matrix seeded mainly by fibroblasts and mesenchymal stromal cells. These skin features suggest that the development of a fibroblast-friendly porous scaffold covered with a flat dense sheath mimicking the basement membrane, and sufficient to support keratinocyte attachment, would be a reasonable approach in the generation of clinically-relevant skin substitutes useful for reconstructive dermatology and burn treatment. Therefore, we developed a procedure to obtain biocompatible composite bilayer scaffolds comprising a spongy dermis-like body (supporting vascularization and appropriate fibroblast and multipotent stromal cell activity) fused with a film-like cover (supporting keratinocyte attachment, growth and differentiation). The sodium alginate (SA), an algae-derived biopolymer, has been used as a base component for these scaffolds while collagen (CL) and fibrinogen (FG) were used as minor additives in variable concentrations. The slow rates of composite SA-based scaffold biodegradation were achieved by using Ba2+ as cross-linking cations. By manipulating the SA/CL/FG ratio we managed to obtain sponge scaffolds with highly interconnected porous structures, with an average pore size ranging from 60 to 300 m, and sufficient tensile strength (3.12-5.26 MPa). The scaffolds biocompatibility with the major human skin cell types was confirmed by seeding the scaffold sponge compartment with primary skin fibroblasts and subcutaneous adipose-derived stromal cells while the film side biocompatibility was tested using primary human keratinocytes. The obtained results have shown that bilayer alginate-based scaffolds have biological and mechanical properties comparable with CL scaffolds but surpass them in cost efficiency and vascularization ability in the subcutaneous implantation model in laboratory mice.

Composite rebar is a promising building material due to its advantages over steel rebar. Polymer reinforcement consists of a hardened matrix reinforced with a continuous fiber. The main role of the matrix is to determine the performance properties of the composite and to distribute stresses in the reinforcing filler. Optimization of the polymer matrix composition in terms of strength and technical parameters makes it possible to obtain a composite with high performance properties. The aim of the research was to determine the effect of modifying additives on the properties of the matrix for the production of composites with high technical requirements. When performing research, we considered modifiers that interact differently with the components of the polymer matrix as plasticizers. The first type of additive is able to combine with reactive groups of epoxy resin to form a three-dimensional product. Urea resin was used as such a compound. The second group of samples contained a furfurolacetone monomer-a substance that does not contain reactive groups with the resin, but interacts with the hardener of the epoxy resin. And the third type of modifier is dioctyl phthalate, whose role is to change the intermolecular and intramolecular interaction of the spatial structure that it fills. Optimization of compositions to identify areas with high physical and mechanical values was carried out using mathematical methods of experiment planning. Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that with the optimal content of plasticizers, in all cases, there is an increase in the compressive and tensile strength indicators compared to materials without additives. Further increase in the content of modifying additives (above the optimal amount) leads to a decrease in strength.

Simple and potentially energy efficient way for synthesis of Al/Al2O3 composites is described. Synthesis method is based on aluminum powder oxidation in water at 100-200 C and following drying and calcination at 600 C. Aluminum powder with average size of about 40 urn that is currently applied in additive manufacturing was used. Present work was devoted to the study of oxidation degree of aluminum and so the propagation depth and structure of Al2O3 shell in composites matrix. AI/Al2O3 composites were produced in different regimes with different maximum temperature and duration of the process of aluminium oxidation in water. Aluminum oxidation degree and aluminium content in obtained Al/Al2O3 were changed in the range from 5.5 % and 90.1 % to 21.3 % and 66.2 % respectively. The size of single crystals of Al2O3 in shell was changed from about 6 nm to 200 nm and the thickness of Al2O3 shell was changed from about 400 nm to 1000 nm by changing the regime for Al/Al2O3 composite production. Experimental results showed that Al2O3 shell was well clutched with aluminum core. Shell structure had cracks aroused by calcination process. Size distribution for obtained composites was very close for that of initial aluminum powder. All of these characteristics recommend the obtained Al/Al2O3 composites for additive manufacturing.

The results have been presented of the vacuum deposited diamond-like carbon (DLC) coatings alloyed with chromium investigation devoted to elucidate the mechanisms of their friction and wear in the conditions of unlubricated and partially lubricated tribological contact. It has been demonstrated that in these coatings the features of their micro- and nanocomposite structure formed by the nanosized inclusions of metallic chromium and its interstitials in the DLC matrix have a significant influence on the tribological behavior under dry friction. In the case of a boundary lubricated contact the common practice is to associate the main role of alloying elements with the peculiarities of their tribochemical interaction with the chemically active components of the lubricant. However the present investigation has not confirmed the existence of such a synergistic effect of to tribochemical interaction of alloying metal and chemically active lubricant additives for the coatings obtained via magnetron sputtering of chromium in acetylene-based reactive atmosphere.

Here we examined how the addition of high-energy materials such as nitrocellulose and 1-methyl-3-nitro-1,2,4-triazole (1Me-3N) would influence the properties of Bi2O3/Al and CuO/Al nanothermite composites. The additives allowed the improvement in explosion force (F) and burning rate (u) of the composites, achieving the maxima at concentrations of 5 % NC and 9 % 1Me-3N for the Bi2O3/Al/1Me-3N mixture, and of 15 % 1Me-3N for CuO/Al/1Me-3N. A further increase in concentrations of the additives decreased the combustion performance of the composites. The effect of the said additives on the properties of nanothermite composites has been considered herein from the standpoint of a simplified model of convective burning in a single pore.

The main goal of the research is to analyse the introduction of additive technologies in industrial production for the manufacture of parts, taking into account the configuration and under the conditions of different factors. The method of optimizing the structure of nozzle inner channel used to uniformly coat a wire with zinc is created. Our production of such nozzles is based on the additive technology of selective laser fusion of metal powder at the equipment Concept Laser Mlab. We used the results of computational gas-dynamic experiments to design nozzles, which allowed us to reduce the nozzle mass by 50 percent and move from the four-component design to the single-component model for 3D printing. Varying the internal topology and parameters (channel and slot geometry, angles of attack of the gas mixture and flow characteristics) made it possible to achieve a uniform thin layer of zinc on the surface of the wire.

The area of application of gypsum materials is limited to low values of compressive strength, water resistance and durability. An urgent task is to increase the efficiency of the gypsum composite using Portland cement, as well as natural and industrial waste. In this work, complex studies were carried out, including scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images, differemtial-thermal analysis (DTA) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns, small-angle X-ray diffraction, as well as mechanical and durability tests of hardened composites. The influence of gypsum building materials on the environment and humans throughout the life cycle have been determined. The features of the formation of the structure and hardening of the eco-friendly gypsum-cement composite (EGCC) have been studied taking into account the chemical, structural and morphological features of dihydrate gypsum, Portland cement, opoka, perlite and six different modifiers. The effect of various finenesses of grinding components on the performances of the EGCC has been investigated. It has been revealed that the maximum compressive strength of 18.1 MPa of hardened gypsum cement binder is achieved with a specific surface of 600 m2 / kg, a further increase in the specific surface leads to a decrease in compressive strength, which is explained by an increase in water demand. Comprehensive chemical additives have been developed that allow a wider range of setting time, from 35 to 72 min. With the introduction of a complex chemical additive, the volume of micropores decreases, which is due to small-sized new growths located in the pore space of the gypsum matrix. All this leads to improving fresh properties and performances of the EGCC.

Along with this, the normalized microelements introduced into the composition of feed and rations in the form of mineral salts are poorly digested by all types of animals. It is most effective to feed them in combination with organic nutrients. In this regard, the purpose of the experimental research was to study the possibility of using feed additives made from local non-traditional feed resources in feeding cattle. As a result of scientific, economic and physiological (balance) experiments, the effectiveness of using feed additives made from local fodder resources in feeding cattle for growth, metabolism and milk productivity was determined.

Dairy farming is a strategic and most efficient branch of agriculture. Milk production depends on a number of factors. The practical experience of many scientists has shown that an increase in the milk productivity of cows is possible when the rations are fed in the form of complete feed mixtures (mono feed). Despite the fact that such a feeding technology contributes to an increase in milk productivity of cows, there are problems in the new calving period, related to their health. After calving, during the milking period, the cows lose their live weight, they quickly acquire metabolic disorders (liver steatosis, ketosis, acidosis, etc.). To prevent such pathological processes, it is necessary to feed energy-compensating supplements in the new calving period. One of the solutions of this problems is the inclusion of biologically active compounds in feed mixtures. In our research these are feed additives Ecostimul-2and Active Mix. In the process of experimental studies, the effect of feed additives Ecostimul-2and Active Mixduring their separate and joint feeding to lactating cows in the new calving period on their milk productivity and metabolism was studied. As a result of the experimental studies, it was found that feeding the used additives to cows in the new calving period promotes an increase in milk yield and a faster recovery of reproductive functions.

Pig farming is one of the dynamically developing branches of animal husbandry. Of all the factors that determine the success of the livestock industry, the most important is biologically complete animal feeding, which makes it possible to realize the genetic potential of animals. Numerous scientific developments show that the use of local non-traditional feed additives in combination with probiotic and enzymatic preparations in pig feeding is currently promising. The geographical location of the Amur region makes it possible to widely use cheap seaweed in animal feeding. In the course of scientific research, scientists have already proven the effectiveness of feeding brown algae to animals. As for the red algae, the representative of which is anfeltia red, research on its use in pig feeding in the Amur region was conducted for the first time. Ahnfeltia red contains a small amount of regulated organic and biologically active substances. The aim of experimental studies was to study the effect of feeding red anfeltia separately and together with the enzymatic probiotic Vitacellon the metabolism and productivity of young pigs. In the process of conducting scientific and economic balance (physiological) experiments established that the inclusion in the feed of angelli red together with probiotic of Vitacellhelped to increase average daily gains, increase the intensity of metabolic processes and to improve the fattening qualities of young pigs.

Extracts of wormwood (Artemsia absnthium) grown in the greenhouse complex of the Institute of Phytopathology were obtained. The resulting extracts were isolated from the dried ground parts of this plant (leaves and flowering tops) by subsequent extractions with a mixture of dichloroethane, acetone and petroleum ether, as well as a mixture of methanol, chloroform and water with the addition of water and chloroform to separate the chloroform layer and purification on activated carbon. By further separation of the obtained extracts by preparative column chromatography, biologically active fractions with different contents of natural insecticides from the group of terpenoids were isolated. The content of biologically active components in various fractions was determined by the methods of chromatomass-spectrometry. It was found that a mixture of low-polarity chloroform with a minimum amount of polar methanol most fully extracts chrysanthenone and chrysanthenyl acetate, cineole and borneol, and the minimum extraction of terpenoids is observed with an increase in the content of polar methanol in the eluent containing chloroform. The insecticidal effect of the isolated fractions on the large cereal aphid (Sitobion avenae) was studied. It was found that the maximum insecticidal effect (100% death of insects) was exhibited by the fraction of terpenoids isolated during extraction with a low-polarity eluent containing chloroform with a minimum amount of methanol. It was found that the fraction of terpenoids containing a high amount of chamazulene exhibited a moderate insecticidal effect (31% of insect mortality), while fractions with a low content of this compound exhibited low insecticidal activity. It was shown that extracts of wormwood have an insecticidal effect against the pest of cereal crops, large cereal aphid and can be used as environmentally friendly natural insecticidal additives to commercial preparations.

By further separation of the obtained extracts by preparative column chromatography, biologically active fractions with different contents of natural insecticides from the pyrethrin group were isolated. The content of biologically active components in various fractions was determined by the methods of chromatomass-spectrometry. It was found that low-polarity eluents (hexane / chloroform) recover pyrethrin I, cinerin I, and jasmolin I most fully, and the maximum recovery of pyrethrin II and cinerin II is observed when using relatively polar eluents (hexane / acetone). The insecticidal effect of the end products on the great cereal aphid (Sitobion avenae) was studied. It was found that the maximum insecticidal effect (100% mortality of insects) was exhibited by the pyrethrine fraction isolated during extraction with low-polarity eluents (hexane / chloroform). It was found that the pyrethrine fraction isolated during extraction with relatively polar eluents (hexane / acetone) exhibited a moderate insecticidal effect (77-81% of insect mortality). It has been shown that Dalmatian chamomile extracts have a high insecticidal effect against such a pest of cereal crops as the large cereal aphid and can be successfully used as effective, environmentally friendly natural insecticides, including in the form of biologically active additives to commercial insecticidal preparations.

Water treatment plant (WTP) sludge is actively used in building materials production. The object of this research was modifying additives for ceramic bricks from WTP aluminium-containing sludge. The research aim of this study was to determine the suitability of a million-plus population city?s WTP sludge as a burning-out additive in the production of structural ceramics and to establish the optimal conditions for obtaining products with the best characteristics. The raw water belongs to water belongs to the hydrocarbonate class, the calcium group, and it is of low turbidity (1.5?40 mg/L kaolin). Sludge, sourced from WTP sedimentation tanks, was dewatered by adding lime or by using the freezing-thawing method. The spray-dried WTP sludge is introduced into the clay in amounts of 5% to 20% by weight. The addition of 20% reduces the sensitivity of the clay to drying, reduces the density of ceramic by 20% and simultaneously increases its compressive strength from 7.0 to 10.2 MPa. The use of WTP sludge as a modifying additive, pretreated by the freezing-thawing method, makes it possible to obtain ceramic bricks with improved properties. The results can be used for WTP sludge containing aluminium obtained by treating water of medium turbidity and medium colour.

Abstract?The results of the density functional theory calculation of the segregation energy of refractory metals at grain boundaries (GBs) in the alloys based on nickel (fcc solid solutions), chromium (bcc), and titanium (hcp) are analyzed. The influence of segregation on the cohesive strength of GBs is estimated using the Rice?Wong model, in which the mechanical strength of GBs is characterized by the boundary splitting energy. Refractory metals are shown to contain ?useful? elements, which enrich GBs and increase their cohesive strength in alloys of all types. The calculated data are used to design experimental high-temperature alloys (HTAs), the alloying system of which contains useful elements in the form of a package of low-alloy additives in HTAs, namely, nickel (Zr, Nb, Hf, Ta), chromium-based (Nb, Ta), and titanium (W, Ta, Re) alloys. The results of testing the mechanical properties of these experimental alloys are presented. The low-alloy additives are shown to increase the creep resistance of all alloys at elevated temperatures.

This paper presents the results of X-ray methods for studying additive products obtained from electroerosive cobalt-chrome powders. It is experimentally established that the conditions for the preparation and dispersion of the powders determine their behavior during sintering. With an increase in the dispersion of the powder, the sintering process accelerates and proceeds more actively, while the mechanical properties of the resulting products increase. Intensification of sintering of the powder is facilitated by oxides contained in large quantities in fine powders and restored when they are heated during sintering. The spongy metal surface formed after disappearance of the oxide is more active than the surface initially free of an oxide film. As the studies show, the structural phase state of the samples does not change and the presence of the following phases remains constant in all four samples: Co, Cr, Ni, and Cr3Ni2. As the dispersion and specific surface area of the powder increase, its penetration increases and porosity decreases, meanwhile its microhardness increases. The presence of powder particles of different fractions increases the density of its shrinkage due to the filling of troughs and micropores at the joints of large particles, which further leads to a decrease in the roughness of sintered products and an increase in the compressive and bending strength. The conducted studies will solve the problem of the import substitution of powder materials suitable for additive products, and reduce the cost of producing the final product.

Abstract: A highly sensitive scheme of the determination of selenium in drinking water by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry with the on-line preconcentration of gaseous analyte compounds obtained by the UV treatment of an analyzed solution in a graphite furnace (GF) is implemented. A photochemical generator of original design of the type ?UV lamp in a hollow cylindrical reactor? is used. The conditions of the photochemical generation and sorption of gaseous selenium compounds are optimized. The efficiency of a number of permanent sorbent modifiers, such as, metallic iridium, tungsten and zirconium carbides, and mixtures of tungsten and zirconium carbides with activated carbon, at the sorption stage in the GF is estimated. The maximum analytical signals of selenium are recorded using graphite tubes modified by iridium. The analytical scheme is verified by a spike recovery test, the recovery of element additives was 90%. The attained limit of detection for Se(IV) is 4.1 ng/L; the relative standard deviation of the results of replicate determinations is no more than 4.0% at the concentration of Se(IV) in water samples 0.1 ?g/L.

A porous catalytically active membrane based on -Al2O3 was synthesized. Powdered additives of the eutectic composition of magnesium oxide and silicon carbide were added to the initial corundum filler to synthesize a membrane framework with high open porosity and physical and mechanical characteristics that was pressed at 40 ? 70 MPa followed by sintering in process combustion mode. Additives of Re2O7 andWO2 were added up to 4 mass% to the initial mixture by a simple technological method to impart catalytic properties to the synthesized membrane. Scientific foundations were developed for creating a technology for one-stage production of catalytically active ultraporous membrane converters effective for dehydrogenation of cumene to -methylstyrene.

The influence of nanosized ZrO2 and Al2O3 particles on the physicomechanical properties (elasticity modulus, flexural strength, microhardness), phase composition, and microstructure of materials based on Si?B4C?ZrB2 was studied. A borosilicate glass-forming melt that encapsulated the starting components was obtained by reactive heat treatment in air in an electric furnace [1]. Gradient materials in which the glass-ceramic surface layer protected underlying layers from oxidation were obtained. This approach could be used to obtain protective coatings for carbon materials. The additives were shown to improve the mechanical properties of composite materials.

The effect of carbon added at 0.008 to 0.18 wt % on the temperature of complete polymorphic transformation, microstructure, and mechanical properties of the titanium near- alloy of the system Ti?6.2Al?Sn?Zr?(2.19?3.53) Moeq?(0.18?0.28) Si?(0.008?0.18)C has been studied. TGU-type titanium sponge or industrial ligatures of AMNTU and AVTU grades can be used to introduce carbon into the alloy. Studies of six experimental forgings performed on bimodal microstructured ingots (globular-lamellar structure) enabled the assessment of the optimal level of carbon in the alloy. An increase in carbon content to the limit of solubility in an -solid solution (up to 0.08 wt %) led to an increase in the heat resistance of the material, but the effect of an increase in silicon content was more pronounced. Carbon added at concentrations within the solubility range had an insignificant effect on the short-term strength of the titanium near- alloy at room temperature, whereas the effect of carbon on impact toughness was detrimental. The impact viscosity remained at an acceptable level of KCU = 330?381 kJ/m2 at the strength u20= 1165?1180 MPa at the carbon concentration selected. Hot deformation of the alloys of the system studied by free forging on a hammer at relatively low temperatures of the biphasic area is allowable.

The main tasks of studying molybdenum silicides for use at elevated temperature include development of materials with a melting point Tme 2000?C, possibly with a low brittle-ductile transition temperature and resistance to high temperature oxidation. The possibility is considered of increasing corrosion resistance of a model alloy consisting of molybdenum solid solution and Mo3Si. The effect of Sc or Nd alloying additives, as well as preliminary high-temperature annealing. i.e., pre-oxidation in order to create a protective oxide layer on the alloy surface of a model alloy, is evaluated. Non-isothermal oxidation of alloys is performed using combined thermogravimetric and differential thermal analysis methods. The phase composition of the scale formed is determined by an X-ray diffraction method. As a result of these studies it is established that preliminary oxidation firing of Mo?Mo3Si?REE (about 3 at.%) alloys at 1100?C for 5?10 min provides conditions for forming a layer of SiO2 and REE molybdates Sc2(MoO4)3 and Nd2Si2O7 at the alloy surface. Oxidation in a dynamic regime for treated alloys in the range 500?850?C proceeds much more slowly than for the initial samples. This can be explained by the difficult access of oxygen to the reaction zone through a protective layer of non-volatile oxides. In addition, preliminary oxidation of Mo?Mo3Si alloyed with Sc or Nd during subsequent oxidation leads to an increase in the transition temperature for the process from the stage of oxide formation to intense MoO3 sublimation.
